In this day and age, do we really need "coonbots"?
Big bug eyes? Check. Big floppy ears? Check. Gold tooth? Check. Jive talking? check. Illiterate? Check! Oh my god! How many negative black stereotypes can you put into this pair of modern day Amos and Andy odd couple?? It wasn't like I went to watch this movie and was caught unawares about this. I had read the reviews and had a very low bar set when I went to watch the movie last night. I figured that I wasn't going to see the next "Casablanca". I figured that it was going to be giant robots beating the crap out of each other on the big screen...something mindless for a couple of hours. This movie showed me how low Michael Bay and Hollywood thinks that the intellect of the average American moviegoer is! On the one thing that I was expecting from the movie... giant robots destroying things... the movie failed to deliver. I mean, sure there were lots of fight scenes and wanton destruction. The only thing is that most of the transformations and fight scenes looked so sloppy that the resembled piles of random junk rolling around. You couldn't even tell bad guys from good guys in some of the fight scenes. The only exception was when they slowed down the action in slo-mo scenes. The movie claims to focus on the "human story". However, most of the lines for the human characters were reduced to one line cliches. Tyrese Gibson came off as particularly annoying in his one-line scenes. He is almost more robotic than the actual robots! To illustrate the level of ignorance that Bay et al thinks that moviegoers display, they put the "evil Decepticon world destroying device" inside a Pyramid!!! Of course we lowly humans have not been able to discover this device even though in reality we have been using sonar and other technologies to explore the pyramids for years (in reality). Also, we all know that the Pyramids at Giza, Eqypt are the ones that line up with the stars in Orion's belt. However, the party in the movie seems to be able to see these same pyramids from Aqaba in Jordan and then drive there in under a day! We won't go into the un-necessary and gratuitious scene of a Decepticon's BALLS! Honestly, after watching this movie, and seeing the reactions of some of the audience around me, we deserve this movie! People actually laughed at the "niggabots"! What year is this, 1909 or 2009?? Are we watching "The Birth of a Nation" or "Transformers: The Revenge of the Fallen"? Do we have a president who is black?? I guess ignorance will never go away as long as we don't question what we are watching and accept the mindless drivel that we are force fed daily. Keep the public dumb so that we can push our agenda on them without question or opposition!
